Health is a Habit. Cultivate it.

Health is a Habit. Cultivate it.

Health is a Habit.  Cultivate it.

January is quickly coming to a close and many of the “resolutions” you made for yourself might not be holding as strongly as you would like.  I actually don’t love resolutions – it always feels like a general to do list for the year. I don’t make resolutions anymore – I have started setting intentions for the year and really focusing on how I want to feel.   I then do my best to ensure that my actions align with these intentions and desired feelings. Taking the time to sit with myself and consider how I want to feel and what I envision for the year is a form of self -care in my opinion.

Self-care is often ignored, but totally necessary.  It actually helps us avoid health problems and improves our mental and physical health through better self-esteem, less stress and overall well being.  Self-care is looking after “YOU”. Nourishing your body and mind so you can show up as your best self. Taking the time to journal or meditate, to move your body, and nourish your body are the fundamental.  Binge watching your favourite show on Netflix or getting your nails done is relaxing and enjoyable, but isn’t true self-care.

It can be really overwhelming to focus on what you eat, when you eat, how you sleep, and how you practice mindfulness all at one time.  That’s why I am offering a 30 day Healthy Habits program. This is a free program to help move you along your health journey wherever you may be – consider it part of your February self-care.    You can sign up to receive an email a day for a month. Everyday there will be some easy tips that you can put into action immediately. If you implement them all you will be well on your way to feeling more energized and solidifying these healthy habits by months end.   The goal of this program is to share with you the knowledge on how to make small changes daily. We will talk about certain foods, balancing blood sugar, eating mindfully, sleeping, hydrating and so much more!

We are working to create a new normal here.  The most important part of any health plan is sustainability.   It has to be something that you will be able to do forever or you will just fall back into old habits.  This isn’t about instant gratification. It is about laying down a foundation of consistent change. What we do consistently is what makes the difference.
