PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY
We are pleased to offer pelvic floor physiotherapy. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is available for both men and women and is appropriate for clients suffering from incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, increased pelvic tone or weakness, low back pain, sexual dysfunction or post surgical complications.
Pelvic floor assessments involve a thorough history and often include an internal vaginal or rectal exam by a physiotherapist with specialized training. Internal exams are the gold standard for assessing how your pelvic floor is functioning and contributing to your core strength. Assessments are always conducted with clean technique and only after fully explaining the procedure. Following your assessment you will be given home exercises and may be asked to fill out some additional paperwork to help determine the best course of treatment.

REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY
Massage Therapy is the practice of soft tissue manipulation that affects the body both physically and psychologically. Physically, treatments mechanically affect fascial restrictions, adhesions, vascular and lymphatic systems as well the neurological system. Psychologically the effects include increased wellbeing and assist in relieving stress.
Physical injury and stress are held in the body through imbalances. Patterns of muscle tension, trigger points, and contractures pull on the fascial web requiring the body to shift and compensate. Our goal is not to treat only the symptom, but the cause of pain or injury.
Specialty massage beyond deep tissue and relaxation massages include breast massage, abdominal massage and the addition of therapeutic cupping.

CHIROPRACTIC
Chiropractic is an evidence-based, non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors provide diagnosis, treatment and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints. Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, depending on specific needs of the individual patient. After taking a history, performing an examination and establishing a diagnosis, a chiropractor can develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment/management plan, recommend therapeutic exercise and other non-invasive therapies, and provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling. One of the most common therapies a chiropractor uses is spinal manipulative therapy (SMT). Specific training in SMT allows chiropractors to provide highly-skilled and precise manipulation to the joints of the spine, which is effective at correcting joint motion to restore proper movement, relieve pain and improve function.
Many women experience breast congestion, pain, swelling and poor circulation.
Breast surgery can leave extensive scarring that causes pain and leads to obstruction of movement, blood and lymphatic flow. Lactating women can experience pain and discomfort as a result of blocked milk ducts. Breast massage is an effective modality for addressing these problems.
The goal of breast massage is to achieve relief for the condition being addressed and through communication and support, help educate clients on how to maintain good breast health.

ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is based on an ancient form of Chinese medicine. It involves the insertion of fine, sterile acupuncture needles into the skin at specific points on the body to achieve a therapeutic effect. The needles are then manipulated by hands or by electrical stimulation. Acupuncture is used to decrease inflammation, improve function, increase relaxation, and encourage the body’s natural healing process. Furthermore, it can have an immediate effect on pain reduction as it stimulates the release of the “happy hormone” endorphin. Acupuncture is used to treat both acute and chronic health issues. Recent research studies show that acupuncture provides the best results in conjunction with other therapies. Our trained staff members will incorporate acupuncture in your physiotherapy treatment.
Conditions acupuncture is most commonly used for include but are not limited to:
Tennis elbow, golfers elbow, headaches, Achilles tendonitis, neck pain, rotator cuff injuries, mechanical back pain, osteoarthritis, chronic pain, pain following a motor vehicle accident.

HOLISTIC NUTRITION
Holistic Nutrition looks at the whole individual; physical, mental, emotional, and environmental. Instead of focusing on just one aspect of the person, or taking a one size fits all methodology. Holistic nutrition evaluates the complete health history, emotional state, lifestyle habits and diet of an individual to determine the root cause of his or her health issues. An individual approach to healing will be created.
Holistic nutritionists are skilled at using the power of food to heal and prevent disease, as well as reversing nutritional deficiencies to help people reach optimal health.
Holistic nutrition can help with all health concerns including digestion, stress, anxiety, hormonal issues, high blood sugar, weight-loss and more. When working with a holistic nutritionist you will have the opportunity to work with someone who follows and promotes this understanding of health and wellness. Whole foods, non-toxic living, mindfulness, movement and sleep practices are fundamental to a holistic way of life.
