Paediatric physiotherapy is a movement specialty for children between the ages of 0-18. We employ a combination of hands-on treatment and exercise prescription to support your child’s independence. By assessing your child's current gross motor function, a physiotherapist will be able to tailor a treatment plan specific to your child - after all, we know every child is special and unique in their own way. We pride ourselves in using a client-centred approach, meaning we want to work with you to identify the child's goals and help them achieve them through both fun and functional activities!
At Body Co., our paediatric physiotherapist is skilled to treat the following gross motor issues:
- Torticollis (tight neck) and plagiocephaly (flat head)
- Any tissue or repetitive strain injury
- Delay in developmental milestones in the first year of life
- Motor delay that may be associated with genetic or neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Down sydnrome or cerebral palsy
- Brachial plexus injuries
- Paediatric incontinence
- and more...
Looking for a little more support as a new parent?
We get it! Being a new parent can be nerve racking and in a world of information overload and comparison, it can be tough to know with confidence that your baby is developing as they should be.
That is why in addition to our other paediatric services we also offer Well Baby Appointments. We know that everyone develops differently, and no two children follow the same developmental trajectory. That said milestones are important and each developmental milestone is a ‘building block’
meant to set up your little one for the next skill.
Our paediatric physiotherapist meets with families at 3, 4.5, 6 and 8 months to help parents understand whether their little one is appropriately meeting their developmental needs, identify risk and give them the tools to help baby build healthy and functional movement patterns.
These sessions are packed with fun and exploration for babies so they barely know they are being assessed as well as lots of educational and hands on practices for parents.
