Spring is a lot of wonderful things....and busy might not be one of them. The shift toward warmer weather often means bringing back more outdoor activities while also trying to wrap up a laundry list of projects and plans before summer arrives.
This time of year can become very busy and very overwhelming quickly and that’s when the best laid plans fall to the wayside! I want to continue to help you find simple ways to focus on your nutrition so it becomes less of a chore and more of an effortless habit.
Here are my top 10 tips.
- Have pre-washed produce cut and ready to grab in the fridge. Makes eating fruits & veggies that much easier.
- Have protein sources on hand- canned tuna, boiled eggs, nitrate free turkey, rotisserie chicken are all great options
- Spend 5 minutes one day per week planning what you are going to eat (if the whole week is too much start with a few meals)
- Plan for your worst day. What can you prepare/eat on the days that you are most busy?
- Seems silly, but know when you are picking up groceries so you don’t get home to realize you don’t have the food to make the dinner you planned.
- Find a protein powder or bar that you love and keep them on hand. This is an easy way to eat on the go.
- When you are cooking dinner make extras so you have extra for lunches or dinner the next day
- When dinner is being made think about breakfast or snacks for the following day. Is there anything you can prepare since you are already in the kitchen making a mess?
- Keep a list of meals that work for you and your family. Note where you found them for easy reference and go to that list when you are at a loss.
- Enjoy the freedom that comes with a little prep! Less decisions to make at the end of a busy day.
I have included a 5 day meal plan for you. Take from it what you wish and I always recommend making extra so you have leftovers for a lunch or another dinner.
